Back to School Essentials: Part 2

Sorry this post is a bit late, I was meant to post it last weekend but I've been so busy getting last minute bits and pieces sorted before I go back to school that I haven't had a chance to finish it. These is the second part of my Back to School Essentials and is about beauty and generally useful things. My first post was more stationary and supplies based so to see that click here

My make up essentials are a lip product, mascara and concealer. These are great for touch ups throughout the day to keep your face looking fresh. Personally I prefer a tinted lip balm like Maybelline's Baby Lips to keep my lips soft and add a little bit of colour and a waterproof mascara to hold the curl better and stopping sliding down my face when it's. I don't like to take too much make-up to school with me so that's all I take. However, I do take a compact mirror with me so I can see what I'm doing.

Another great product to have with you is blotting tissues. These are great whenever your face gets a bit oily just to stop it shining so much. They are especially great when it's hot or if you have just had PE. I also have a small packet of regular tissues.

Another useful thing to keep handy is a nail file because you never know when you might break a nail. My nail file also has a nail buffer on it as well which I think is really useful. It's also good to have a hand cream and hand sanitizer to keep your hands clean and soft.

I always keep some chewing gum close to hand. These are definitely needed after eating for obvious reasons. If your aren't aloud gum at your school take a packet of mints instead.

One of my other essentials is hair supplies like hair bands and bobby pins. I keep mine in an old Tic-Tac box just to keep them altogether. It's also really useful to have a small can of hairspray to help keep any stray hairs in place throughout the day.

Especially if it's hot it's great to have a body spray or perfume to freshen up. It's also a good idea to have a deodorant of some sort specially if you have PE.

My last essentials are plasters and painkillers. This made sound quite weird but I take them everywhere with me because you never know when you may hurt yourself and I like to be prepared.

I put most of these essentials I've mentioned in this post into a small make-up bag in the bottom of my bag. I hope everyone who's going back to school is getting on ok and enjoys it. I will hopefully speak to you soon.

Back to School Essentials: Part 1

I'm hopefully going to post my favourites post at the end of August so it will be a summer favourites. First though here is a post in preparation for going back to school.

This is part 1 of my essentials which is mainly stationary type things and part 2 will be up soon and will be beauty and generally useful things.

Before I start, I'm just going into Year 12 (the first year of sixth form) and I am doing four subjects, psychology, drama, history and further maths. So that's what all these essentials are for mainly but you could adapt them to whatever you are doing.

The first essential is a pencil case. This is a really obvious one but also a really important one. My pencil case is a Disney princess one which a friend bought me for my birthday because I love Disney princesses.

In my pencil case I have a few more essentials, I have ruler, a multi-coloured pen, two black biros, two pencils, a rubber, a pencil sharpener, some paperclips and some mini highlighters. Most of these things are basic stationary apart from the multi-coloured pen and highlighters which I find useful for making important notes or emphasising information.

The next essential is a spiral notebook. This is just for taking notes in class because I know most of my classes don't give us exercise books however if you do get exercise books then you can use those and use a notebook for homework. Mine has a seaside pattern on the front because I think plain notebooks are a bit dull.

My next essential is ring binders. I have four of these, one for each subject, to keep everything in like notes, homework and hand-outs. Ring binders are great for keeping things organised. I chose ones with different fun designs on so I can tell which binder is for which subject easily.

Another great essential for staying organised is a diary or planner. The best ones to get are academic or mid-year diaries because they start and end in august. Its great to have some sort of diary or planner so that you can write down exam dates or homework deadlines and keep your life organised. Mine also has a timetable page at the front so that I can write down when my lessons are.

My final essential is a scientific calculator. Obviously this is only for people who are doing a maths subject like I am. Mine is a bright pink one which I've had for two years.
Also, you will need some sort of bag to put all of these stuff in. The best ones to get are ones with pockets or sections to help organise everything. You also want one that is quite big to fit all your stuff in but not too big because you've got to carry it around with you. I still need to buy mine but I love backpacks like this one from New Look.
Image 1 of New Look Blue Floral Backpack
Lastly, a few other nice things to have are: flash cards to help you learn important dates or terms, hole reinforcements to stop pages ripping and falling out your binders, dividers and wallets to seperate your work an keep it neat and a USB stick to back up your files and make it easier to transfer files from home to school.

Liebster Award!!!

Patricia from Felice Mai Dopo has been absolutely lovely and kindly nominated for a Liebster award! When I first read that she'd nominated this blog, I had no idea what that meant so I clicked the link and went to her blog to find out what it meant. Basically, the Liebster award is given to bloggers who have less than 200 followers to help spread the word about new blogs.

The rules (as I understand them)

1. Link back to the lovely blogger who nominated you.
2. Answer 11 questions from that same lovely blogger.
3. Nominate 11 more bloggers for the award and leave them 11 questions.
4. You can write 11 random facts about yourself but you don't have to.

The questions I was set

1. Who is your favourite author and why? - This is quite hard because I haven't read anything other than school things recently but I think I'm going to say Roald Dahl. I know he's a child's author but I think his books are so funny and imaginative and because they are aimed at children there are no complicated drama's so I can escape from real life for a bit.

2. If you could live anywhere, where would it be? - America definitely, probably LA.

3. Who is somebody you look upto or admire? - There are a few for different aspects in my life. The first is Louise from Sprinkleofglitter because she is just such a lovely and bubbly person, the second one is Carrie Hope Fletcher from ItsWayPastMyBedTime because she is very down-to-earth and her videos have some great advice in and the last one is One Direction because I am a massive fan of theirs and I think they are all so lovely and down-to-earth and just living the dream.

4. Grab the nearest book, turn to page 27, what's the first full line on that page? How well does it fit in with your life right now? - The book I grabbed was Shopaholic Abroad by Sophie Kinsella and the line was "And I'm just reaching into my bag for my purse," (the sentence is four lines long so I'll stop there). This fits quite well with my life right now because I have recently been shopping loads and plan to go again soon so I have spent most of my money (oops) and keep reaching for my purse.

5. Who knows you best in life? - My best friend because I tell pretty much everything and I've known her so long we don't even have to talk to know what we are thinking.

6. What's your favourite memory? - Lunchtimes at school with my six best friends because they were hilarious and I love them so much, they are like sisters to me.

7. What's your earliest memory? - Nearly sharpening my finger in pre-school because I didn't know what the sharpener was so I stuck my finger in it but somebody stopped me before I hurt myself.

8. What's your dream beauty product? - I wasn't sure whether this meant real products or not so I went for Urban Decay's Naked Palette because it is gorgeous but way too expensive for me.

9. If you could change anything about your life what would it be? - Probably where I live because its nice but I'd much rather be in America. the only thing is I love my friends and everything else I have here so I'd have to take them all with me.

10. Do you want to be married? Why/why not? - Yes, eventually. I don't know why though, it's just something I've always imagined I would do.

11. How is your day? - Great, thanks for asking.

The blogs I nominate

1. things the books forgot
2. My Pretty Pastel Blog
3. Dorky, Fizzy and Quirky Stuff
4. Trendy On A Budget
5. Sarahoyyy
6. coco mykel
7. Stylish England

The questions for you

1. How are you today?
2. What's the best piece of advice or quote you've ever heard?
3. What's your favourite song right now?
4. Do you ever want to have kids?
5. If you had unlimited money what would you do with it?
6. What's your biggest fear?
7. Do you have a hidden talent? If so, what?
8. What is something you couldn't live without
9. Do you prefer summer or winter? Why?
10. What's your favourite thing in your wardrobe?
11. What's your favourite shop?

Sorry if I have nominated anyone that has already been nominated. Thank you to Patricia for nominating me and I hope everyone enjoys doing this post.

Disney Summer Outfits

So first things first, I'm back! I have internet again and that means I can blog! I have loads of posts planned so look out for those coming soon but in the meantime, today's post.

I was looking through my old posts and this was in my drafts so I thought I'd share it with you.

A while a go I got a pinterest account (thePureAllure if you want to follow me, hint, hint!) and I am still obsessed with it. Not long after I created an account I found some pins of various character inspired outfits so I decided to have a go at my own.

I'm sorry but I can't remember where things are from but I think they are on my Polyvore. Also they might not be in stock anymore because I made these a while ago. Let me know what you think of these and I might do some more if you like them.

Another Apology

I'm sorry I didn't finish the 30 Day Snap and I haven't posted anything for ages but I've been really busy and I haven't had time. Also, last week my laptop broke so I was going to do a July favourites post but couldn't because my laptop wouldn't let me and now I'm going away for a week without internet. After that I'm back for a day and then off away for another week probably without Internet as well. So I will try and do a favourites post but it might have to be July and August combined, sorry. I will hopefully speak to you guys soon and comment any post suggestions you have.

30 Day Snap #19

Here is my nineteenth post for Sprinkle Of Glitter's 30 Day Snap. Hope you enjoy. I'm finally up to date!

These are my new acrylic glitter nails I got done today as a present from my mum and dad because my birthday's tomorrow. I chose silver glitter tips because my prom is on Wednesday and my dress has silver on and all my accessories are silver. This is my first time having acrylic nails and I'm still getting used to them but I love them. Hope you are all having a lovely day.

P.S. it's my birthday tomorrow and my prom on Wednesday so I probably won't be posting but I will still take photos for you guys and post them later

30 Day Snap #18

Here is my eighteenth post for Sprinkle Of Glitter's 30 Day Snap. Hope you enjoy. This for yesterday, 23rd June.

This is what I bought on Saturday from Most Marvellous Place To Shop. It is a small canvas with a girly union jack background and the quote "don't count the days... make the days count" on it in black. I thought it was really pretty and a lovely quote. It is by NicNackShabbytat who you can find on Facebook here. She has lots of lovely things so definitely check them out. Hope you are all ok.

30 Day Snap #17

Here is my seventeenth post for Sprinkle Of Glitter's 30 Day Snap. Hope you enjoy. It's late because I've been really busy but it's still here and it's from 22nd June.

On Saturday I went to a shop called Most Marvellous Place To Shop. It's a great shop full of all sorts of different bits and it goes on for ever. There's lots of different sections that different companies have to sell there stuff and it's all very vintage and second hand. If you are in the area I highly recommend it. This photo just kind of sums up the whole shop. The photo's quite bad quality because it was taken on my phone sorry. Hope you all had a lovely weekend.

P.S. Sprinkle Of Glitter did a post about this shop so you can check that out here if you want to read a bit more about it.

I also got some Dream Pure BB Cream in Light and some Rocket Volume Express Waterproof mascara from Maybelline. Lastly, I got some Dove Summer Glow body lotion for fair to medium skin. Today I went shopping with my family and I managed to control myself and only bought this sunglasses case from Primark. It was only £2 and I thought it was really summery and fun, plus I needed a sunglasses case so I got it. Hope you are all having a great day.

30 Day Snap #10

Sorry I didn't post yesterday. I did take a photo for you yesterday but I didn't get chance to upload it, so I'm going to upload it now. I might do today's post a bit later as well if I get chance.

Here is my tenth post for Sprinkle Of Glitter's 30 Day Snap. Hope you enjoy.

Yesterday I went to FEstival at Northampton College and it was amazing. Loveable Rogues were headlining and they were great which is why they are my photo for the day. There were also some other great artists like The Parades, Max Milner and a few bands from the college including Attic who were amazing. Overall, it was a great day and I'm sorry the photo isn't great I had to take it on my phone. Hope you are all having a lovely weekend.

Here is my ninth post for Sprinkle Of Glitter's 30 Day Snap. Hope you enjoy.

Today I spent most of my day trying to sort out part of my room because I am moving it all around. For the last month or two my stuff has been in various bags, boxes and piles throughout the house so I thought I'd start to sort it all out as I have finished school so I have nothing else to do. This is a photo of what I managed to sort today, it's my make-up, body and face stuff. Hope you've all had a good week, it's the weekend now!!!

This is a photo of my bed because I have been home alone today so I spent most of my time laying on my bed, on the internet and my phone. For anyone who's interested my quilt cover and pillow set are from Argos and they are double-sided, one sides stripy and the other has a patchwork floral design. Hope you all had a good day.

This is a photo of my Sweetshop notebook from Wilko. This is todays photo because today was one of my last days at school and this is the notebook I am using as a "leaver's book" to get everyone to sign. I'm going to miss everyone so much but hopefully i'll still most of them and it's pretty exciting. Hope you all had a lovely day today.

30 Day Snap #6

Here is my sixth post for Sprinkle Of Glitter's 30 Day Snap. Hope you enjoy.

This is a photo of some goldfinches that were in our garden earlier. This might seem quite boring and random to some of you but it's today's photo because I was sitting trying to work out what I could use as today's photo because I hadn't got one yet and I turned round and saw these two. It's rare for us to get two goldfinches at the same time now so it was kind of special and I just think they are really pretty birds (and I'm definitely not a  bird person).

In other news, I finished my exams today! I had my last exam this morning now I'm done! I'm so excited but also scared and also sad, I don't really know how to feel but at the moment I'm happy so we'll just go with that. But I was just very happy about it so I thought I'd share it with you guys. Hope you all had as good a day as I did, sorry if you didn't but hopefully it will be a great week ahead.

Here is my third post for Sprinkle Of Glitter's 30 Day Snap. Hope you enjoy.

This is a photo of my three pairs of sunglasses that I own because it was sunny today and I wore the pink and blue pair today. The top rainbow pair and the middle neon pair are both from Primark and they were only £1 each, hence why I bought two pairs, and the bottom purple ones are by Foster Grant and were from Matalan last year. Hope you are all having a lovely summer.

30 Day Snap #2

Sorry I missed yesterday I was really busy with exams and revision but anyway here is my second post for Sprinkle Of Glitter's 30 Day Snap even though it's the 6th June today sorry.

These are two new Essie nail varnishes I bought recently, Mint Candy Apple and Avenue Maintain. I've wanted to get Mint Candy Apple for a while and when I went to get it I saw the Avenue Maintain I thought it was a gorgeous blue that went really well with the mint. The reason it's today's photo is because I painted my nails today and I couldn't think of anything else to photograph, sorry. I promise these posts will get more interesting.

30 Day Snap

Sorry my last post wasn't my usual style I just needed to vent and I thought what better place than my little corner of the internet. I also just released I forgot to say toodles at the end!!!!! Hopefully everything will be back to normal now. Anyway, on with the post.

Today is my first photo for Sprinkle Of Glitter's 30 Day Snap. It's meant to start on the first of June but I completely forgot about so I thought better late than never.

This is a photo of the gorgeous view out of my bedroom window earlier on this bright sunny day. I absolutely love my view and feel so lucky to have such a lovely one of fields instead of just buildings.

People Are So Arrogant

Sorry I've been rubbish at posts, I've got loads of exams and I'm doing loads of revising and coursework. Everything's just really busy.

Anyway, some the exams I have are science and history and while I was revising I started thinking, we are quite arrogant. I don't mean each individual one of us, I mean humans as a whole. Let me explain.

We always think we are right. When a scientist makes a new discovery, if there's enough evidence people just assume it's right. But in 20 years time the discovery could be proved wrong and everyone would laugh at how stupid the idea was. For example, in history we are doing about medicine. The cavemen thought that illness and disease was caused by spirits so their cures mainly consisted of getting the evil spirit out of the diseased person which usually involved smashing their head in (literally). Now most of us think that the idea of evil spirits causing disease is ridiculous and smashing someone's head in is definitely not going to help and most of us probably laugh at the idea. However, back then they genuinely believed that and they saw no reason why it could be wrong.

Now some of you may be thinking that they were prehistoric so they obviously didn't know any better and so it doesn't count but it happens all the way through history. A scientific discovery is made and a theory produced, everyone fully believes it and laughs at those before them who didn't. Until one day a discovery is made that disproves the theory and people wonder why it was ever believed in the first place. It's like a never ending cycle.

One of my history teacher's favourite things to say is "we know now that they were wrong". He says it as if the people in the past were stupid when actually they weren't they were just like you or me. We may know that they were wrong but how do we know that we are right, we don't. It really annoys me because in a few hundred years we'll be the people in the past that will be ridiculed for our beliefs and discoveries but we have no reason to doubt them now so we don't. Overall, we are so arrogant and just think we know everything and that we are always right but we not and we never will be.

Simple Smoothie Recipe

Recently I have been trying to eat healthier. One of the things this includes is eating a healthier breakfast. This morning I tried making a smoothie for my breakfast and it was delicious as well as healthy so I thought I'd share the very simple recipe with you.

Ingredients

1 Medium Banana
200g Low Fat Natural Yoghurt
2 tbsp. Honey

Method

1. Put all the ingredients in a blender.
2. Blend the ingredients until there's no lumps.
3. Pour into a glass and drink.

It is literally that easy. You can use whatever yoghurt you want I just used what we had in the fridge. You can also change the amounts to fit your taste.

As well as being extremely delicious this smoothie has numerous health benefits. One of the things it does is boost your immune system because all the ingredients contain vitamin C. It gives you one of your five-a-day as well. It also makes a great breakfast alternative as it gives you lots of energy to start your day or as a little pick-me-up when you are feeling a bit tired.

Let me know if you try this out or if you have any other smoothie recipes you love.

January Favourites

I know this is quite late, I'm very sorry I'll try to be quicker next month but these are a few things I've been loving in the past month of January. I will be doing one of these every month with the same catergories.

I got this in a Nivea Lip Care tin for christmas along with three other lip balms and it is definately my favourite. I've used it loads recently because it's been so cold and my lips have been getting really dry. I love it because it just makes my lips feel so soft.

This was another Christmas present that I have used non-stop. I originally saw this brush before christmas when I was shopping in London and for some unknown reason decided not to buy it. Luckily, my brother decided to get it as a Christmas presnt for me.
I think the jewels on the back are gorgeous, they remind me of space and stargazing. I also love the brush itself, I had wanted a paddle brush for ages but couldn't find one I liked anywhere. My hair gets quite frizzy but this brush is great at detangling my hair and stops it getting so frizzy.

Fashion: Hoodies
I have been wearing lots of hoodies recently because they are really warm and easy to wear with anything and everything. My two favourites are my "Chillin with my gnomies" David and Goliath one and my snowman one from new look. I think hoodies are very cosy to wear in winter and just a bit of fun with all the different designs you can get.

Food: Fruitella summer fruits
I fancied some sweets the other day and just happened to pick these up and now I'm addicted. They are delicious. Even writing about them makes me want one. The bad thing is though they are ridicously moreish, I can't just eat one no matter how hard I try.

Drink: Water
Sorry this is bit of a boring one but its basically all I've drank for the whole of January. I know it doesn't taste great but it is so good for you. I've always heard loads of things about all the health benefits of drinking water but for some reason I never drank that much of it. Recently though I have drank mainly water and I honestly feel so muchmore awake and my skin is looking so much healthier.

App: Temple Run 2
I am addicted to this game even though I am pretty rubbish at it, my current highscore is 338,123. I loved the first Temple Run so when they brought out a new one I thought I'd give it a go and it is amazing. It is even better than the first one, there's new characters, new obstacles and it's free. If you haven't got it yet you definately should.

Website: Student Recipes

This website is amazing it has loads of really easy recipes on it. Because it's designed for students they are all quick and simple. You can sort the recipes by who they're for or what they've got in them. There's also sections for drinks and healthy recipes.Another great feature is that you can rate the recipes and comment on them.

I love this version of the Swedish House Mafia song, somehow the meaning of the song seems to change for me when Conor sings it. I love this version so much I bought Conor Maynard's whole Animal EP just to have this song.

One of my bestfriends was lucky enough to get tickets for Diversity's tour and when she came back she told me all about it whilst we both massively fangirled over it. I was really jealous that she'd been able to see them so when I opened up the DVD for Christmas I nearly screamed. I watched it straight away and absolutely loved it.

So those are some of the things I have been  loving in January, I tried to link them all sorry if I couldn't. Hope you found it interesting and I will do another one in a months time.

New Years Resolutions (kind of)

I know it's a bit late for New Years resolutions but let me explain.
I don't really like New Years Resolutions because everybody says basically the same thing and then stick to them for less than a month. I also don't see why it has to be a New Year for us to change things about ourselves; I think its just another way to put off what we don't want to do.
Because of all this I didn't make any New Years resolutions this year but I've been thinking a lot lately about stuff I want to do or change. So I decided to make some late New Years resolutions.
1. Learn to play guitar
I've been saying I want to learn to play guitar for the last year but I always put it off. My brother and dad have both offered to teach me more than once, I've been given a guitar book to teach myself from and I've even looked at songs to play but I always make excuses so I haven't yet learnt to play. I really want to be able to play guitar so that's my first resolution.
2. Cook and bake more
I love cooking and baking but I don't do it enough. I have so many recipe books and for Christmas I got a gorgeous little tin with little recipe cards from Joules to write all my favourite recipes on and keep them all in one place. Despite all of this I rarely make any of the recipes. To fix this I'm going to bake a lot more and try and cook for my family atleast once a fortnight.
3. Look after myself better
By this I mean like skincare, exercise and general health. I always complain about the way I look but never do anything about it. Because of this I'm going to start a proper skincare routine, try to do a bit more exercise and eat less junk. Hopefully if my body is more looked after it might perk me up and make other parts of my life better as well.
4. Update my Blog more
My last resolution is to update this Blog more and make it better because I've had it for about three months now and I've posted twice. Neither of the posts were that thought out or planned and I don't particularly like them. Because of this I'm going to try to post regularly and change the way I do this Blog.
Now my resolutions are on the Internet I might be motivated to stick to them a bit more (hopefully). I'll let you know how I get on with them. I'd love to hear any resolutions you've made and how you're getting on with them.

This is a picture of the joules recipe tin. Sorry it's not my photo but I've already lost the tin (I know great start right). I also can't find anywhere you can get these sorry.
